Warby Parker, the eyewear brand known for selling its signature black and tortoise-shell glasses online, is opening a store in Harbor East in the next few months.

The location, the first in Maryland, will carry the brand’s full collection of glasses and sunglasses and will have an on-site optometrist for eye exams.

The retailer is moving into more than 1,000 square feet at 807 Aliceanna St.

Warby Parker now has 20 stores.

“We’re incredibly excited to be opening our doors in a city with so much historical heft and literary history,” Neil Blumenthal, co-founder and co-CEO, said in an email.

The company’s website says the idea for the retailer came after one of the founders after one of lost glasses during a backpacking trip as a student and couldn’t afford to replace them.
