Medifast Inc. on Monday confirmed it will move its headquarters to the Legg Mason tower, relocating 160 employees to the city after years in Baltimore County.

The announcement comes three months after the Baltimore Business Journal reported that the Owings Mills weight loss company was eyeing a lease at the glass-encased waterfront tower.

Medifast’s manufacturing facility and related staff will remain in Owings Mills.

In Harbor East, the company will lease 51,000 square feet in the 24-story, 100 International Drive tower developed by H&S Properties Development Corp. The BBJ reported in June the space would be a sublease from OneMain Financial.

“As Medifast continues to establish itself as a national leader in the health and wellness space, we are excited to join the growing business community in Baltimore City,” Daniel Chard, CEO of Medifast, said in a statement. “We look forward to supporting Baltimore City’s wellness and development initiatives by embedding ourselves in the heart of downtown while maintaining operations in the county that has supported us and been our home for the past 37 years.”
