Baltimore’s Harbor East Marina recently completed a two-phase, nearly $9 million renovation to update its aging floating docks and electrical systems.
The 184-slip facility embarked on the updates in fall 2016 as part of an agreement between its owner, Oasis Marinas, and Baltimore Development Corp. Work was completed in May after two years of construction during the fall and winter seasons.
Eric Bradley, vice president of operations at Oasis Marinas, said Harbor East Marina is now more aesthetically pleasing and can better accommodate today’s modern boats. The 26-year-old marina has been equipped with wider, individual slips that have docks on both sides of each boat, rather than the more common style of two boats to a slip.
“The old facility, while well-designed, had reached the end of its natural life,” Bradley said. “The new marina is designed to be practical for the full life of the marina, which should be about 40 years.”
